Parabolic Troffers
Multiple studies have shown a link between worker’s productivity and the work environment quality, particularly the lighting of office spaces. Currently, almost all modern office work relies on computers and an efficient lighting technology is crucial to create a comfortable work environment. Parabolic troffers have been the ideal choice in office space lighting technology. Parabolic troffers are ceiling fixtures with multiple lamps, offering high energy savings and comfortable, anti-fatigue light.
The parabolic troffer features a luminaire housing made of gauge cold rolled steel or extruded aluminum. The anodized aluminum louver is mounted in an open or closed position with steel hinges. The fixture features a light trap which is specifically designed to lower and prevent light leaks through the sides and other areas of the housing. The latches and hinges are positive action spring-loaded and the ventilation vents are finger-tip actuated, with a positive feed type design and are made of high quality steel. They are completely concealed in the reveal located on the back of the fixture. Typically, the housing is finished with a high temperature, ultra resistant baked white enamel that ensures durability and long work life. The painted elements are further treated with a six stage phosphate bonding process. The recessed areas, slots and vents are painted with a flat, matte enamel black paint. The rounded sides and hemmed ends guarantee easy handling during the installation process. The troffers come with a earthquake sensitive integral T-bar safety clips as standard.
The louver is available in various depths, ranging from 2 inches for smaller models to 5 inches for large, multiple unit models. This ensures that the troffers will fit in almost all types of ceilings (regardless of their height), such as technical ceilings in workshops or research facilities. The lover features a semi-specular low iridescent natural anodized aluminum that is designed for tri-phosphor lamps and LED units. Providing an automated assembly process and precise baffle fit with gap free corners, the louver offers years of maintenance free operation, complete with maximum glare control at all times.
Depending on the model and the necessities, the lamp unit houses 10, 12, 16, 18, 24 or 32 cells. The most popular model is the 4 inch deep louver, featuring 24 cells. The troffers offer maximum lighting efficiency, coupled with a controlled widespread distribution thanks to its variable angle design. Premium troffers usually feature concealed T8, T5 or T5HO lamps or compact fluorescent tubes. Modern parabolic troffers feature a fixed lamp cross-section design. This means that a two lamp T8 troffer is more efficient when it comes to lighting than a three lamp T8 unit, while also reducing operating costs. When more light is required, different lamp settings can be ensured within the preexisting louver.
Parabolic troffers are equipped with high power Class P factor ballasts with a voltage of 120 volt and 60 hz intensity. The lamp types available are 28Watt T5, 32Watt T8, 54Watt T5HO and have a maximum recommended number of lamps (per cross section) of 2, 3 or 4, depending on the model size. The most commonly available ballast type is Instant Start 3 Lamp Generic.
