Wall lights can be simply defined as lighting systems that have been installed along or at strategic areas of a wall. LED wall lights are installed in a similar fashion. All outdoor lights tend to have solid fixtures so as to withstand extreme weather conditions like wind, snow, rain and sunlight. These will vary according to the location they will be used. The same case will apply for all outdoor LED wall lights. For instance, an area with hot and dry weather most of the year will have lights made from metal and plastic. Areas that are wet and cool have lights made from heavy duty plastic, stainless steel and rubber caps.

Outdoor LED wall lights have many uses including lighting up the perimeter of a building and the perimeter wall of a complex. Since they are used mostly for security related purposes, they are brighter than their indoor counterparts. Typical lights of this nature, used on the exterior walls of a home or small estate, utilize 30 – 60 watt bulbs offering less than 10,000lm. However, larger areas such as companies and industries will need to have brighter outdoor LED lights. They normally use any product that has more than 200 watts. The input voltage of these lights is 100 – 240V, with an option of using solar energy.

Some of these lights have motion sensors in order to alert security guards of a possible intruder. They are mainly mounted high out of reach of an average person to prevent inference from possible burglars. There are outdoor LED wall lights that are fitted with silent alarm systems. When the bulb malfunctions or is tampered with, a silent alarm goes off at a nearby security station or point alerting the guards on duty.

Warranty on outdoor LED lights is not as ‘customer friendly’ as one you would find on indoor lights. Normally, 1 – 3 years is the warranty a consumer is offered because of the high risk location of the lights. Some manufacturers offer a metal grill to be installed with the lights in order to reduce the chances of the lights failing as a result of unforeseen external factors.
